The 1st ever CARBON NEUTRAL spray paint is Greek – Cosmos Lac

EASY MAX, CHALK EFEECT & SPRAY.BIKE now with Carbon Neutral certification.

For more than 40 years, COSMOS LAC has worked to make spray painting more accessible and enjoyable to both amateurs and professional users. Today’s our green agenda must focus on making the world safer, greener, and better for future generations. While the world will need to reach net zero, those of us who can afford to move faster and go further should do so.

Three of our main paint ranges, EASY MAX, CHALK EFFECT and SPRAY.BIKE will now carry CARBON NEUTRAL PRODUCT certification.

The initiative to measure the carbon footprint of our products and offset them was launched in 2021 in line with our commitment to environmental sustainability. The measurement and certification process were completed through 2 independent bodies and was a long and complicated process. Completing our certification filled us with satisfaction. Our world premiere filled us with pride. Our desire is to continue creating innovative, user-friendly products with less and less impact – up to zero – on the natural environment.

Within 2023 all of our colour lines will be CARBON NEUTRAL certified. At the same time, we will seek to promote this initiative to private label customers as well, so that together we can contribute to the creation of more environmentally friendly products. Our goal is to keep producing innovative, user-friendly products with a low environmental impact and a zero-carbon footprint. That’s why today we are announcing an ambitious goal and a new plan to reduce and ultimately remove COSMOS LAC’s carbon footprint.

COSMOS LAC CALL TO ACTIONS: Gas emission reductions and compensatory measures:

In order to reduce emissions, we recorded the carbon footprint of our products using the EPD® (Environmental Product Declaration), by taking into account their entire life cycle: from raw materials till the distribution stage and the usage of the products. Our efforts to achieve sustainability are far from over. We are continuously working on improving our results by modernising our systems and developing and implementing state-of-the-art aerosols.

To address emissions from our own operations, COSMOS LAC will source renewable energy to power our plant line through photovoltaic panels. Additionally, the company is implementing plans, to reduce the impact associated with its supply chain while supporting grids and utilities to power electric vehicles with renewable energy.

Furthermore, since Recycling plays a major role in today’s standards of welfare, we are planning to use recycling raw material during the packaging stage. Additionally, for all the emissions that cannot be reduced immediately, we intend to implement a program of compensatory actions to protect the environment, and simultaneously reduce emissions from elsewhere, such as supporting and investing in six international sustainability projects.

More specifically we aim to support the following:

  • Cambodia: Reduced Emissions From Deforestation And Degradation In Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Uganda: Up Energy Improved Cookstoves Programme, Uganda
  • Bulgaria: Methane Gas Capture and Electricity Production at Kubratovo Wastewater
  • Treatment: Plant, Sofia, Bulgaria
  • Brazil: Buenos Aires Renewable Biomass.
  • India: 199.70 MW Wind Project
  • Kenya: Planting Trees in Kenya
