The placement of the novablokxps Terrace does not need expertise, but it is a prerequisite for its application is the correct slope of the roof (at least 2%), the correct waterproofing and installation of gutters for the drainage of rainwater. As long as the slope and sealing is not sufficient, their repair is required. The waterproofing layer can be made with any waterproofing film.
APPLICATION STAGES
- STUDY
Careful consideration before installing novablokxps Terrace will ensure fewer cuts and scratches. Laying the tiles must be done on flat and clean surfaces, always starting from the perimeter.
- AREA PREPARATION
Leave a joint of 2-3 centimeters from the original parapet (if it does not exist, it should be built) and around the perimeter of the roof for the contraction – expansion of the insulating plates. In case the roof is over 50m2, then we should leave an additional expansion joint in the center with a width of 1-2 centimeters. We place a special foam cord in the expansion joint to fill the gap before grouting.
- START INSTALLATION
In the first two rows of installation of the novablokxps Terrace we should align the plates with a seam, for a better result. - INSTALLATION OF INSULATING PLATES
The installation of the insulating plates for better stability and bonding is done by shifting each new row by 30cm to the first piece. A prerequisite is the correct assembly of the pieces.
- EXISTING SEALING
If the application of the waterproofing has been done with an asphalt membrane, the seams (joints) should be smoothed so that there is no height difference. In such a case we can remove insulating material (3-4mm) using a sanding disc to have a perfect application of novablokxps Terrace on the substrate. In the case of spreadable waterproofing, a sanding disc is not needed, except for uneven areas.
- CARE OF WATER DRAINAGE
In the places where there are gutters, cut the tile using a wheel, leaving a gap for the drainage of rainwater. - WELDING OF JOINTS
After completing the application of novablokxps Terrace, grouting with special polyurethane sealing mastic, which offers welding and sealing of the tiles at the joints. The same should be done in the expansion joints, around the perimeter and in the center of the roof. This way we achieve less moisture on the existing roof.
- PERIMETER SECURITY
Around the perimeter of the roof, the tiles should reach the parapet (its existence is mandatory), on which we place an aluminum corner (30X60mm) to cover the gaps we have left for contraction – expansion and to protect the novablokxps Terrace from being swept away, in case of strong wind. Also important for not being blown by the wind is the correct assembly of the novablokxps Terrace tiles.
